It is becoming disgraceful as musicians, as well as the general public, point out glaring flaws in the nomination list, with popular gospel singer Nicholas Omane Acheampong of ‘Zaphanat Panea’ fame being the latest to slam the organizers.
Though Charter House had nominated Nicholas Omane Acheampong for the Producer of the Year category, the musician has come out to express shock at the organizers, revealing that he was not the producer for ‘Zaphanat Panea’.
Nicholas explained that Kwadwo Akwaboah was the producer for ‘Zaphanat Panea’ and actually handled the technical parts of the song and should therefore have been nominated.
According to Nicholas, he was only the executive producer but not a technical producer and his name was therefore not qualified to appear under that category
The gospel singer made the damning revelations on Peace FM’s Entertainment Review. According to Charter House’s definition of the category, “The music producer of the year award adjudged by the peers and the board to be the producer or producers is directly responsible creatively for the best production of a song during the year under review. The song must have been nominated in the Most Popular Song of the Year category “.
Charter House surprisingly worsened the case and exposed how little or no research went into the process of compiling the list.
Interestingly, E.L. was also nominated for Producer of the Year but he has told NEWS-ONE he is not happy: “I don’t know why they nominated me for Producer of the Year.
That award should go to Nshorna Musik because he best deserves it this year and not me.
I don’t need it. I’ve been producing songs from whenever; why nominate me now?”
From all indications, it was clear that Charter House and the VGMA board did not do their research well.
But like they did with the Chris Brown weed smoking and marijuana promotion saga, the head of production for GHOne and Charter House, Nii Ayittey Hammond, tried to dissociate his outfit from the gaffe, saying it was not the board’s fault.
“Nicholas Acheampong has officially come out to say on radio that the information that he gave to the
VGMA board is wrong so the board will sit down and correct it.
It is not the mistake of the board because the information he gave us stated categorically that he was the producer,” Ayittey Hammond explained.
